Remembering
Missing you, Scotty. (April, 2009)
Scotty was brought to a shelter when he was twelve years old (his owner had passed away). No relatives wanted him. After just two days at the shelter, Scotty was adopted.
Four and a half years later his second owner returned him to the same shelter. Gena visited this shelter to rescue some cats. An employee told her about Scotty. Taking a chance on him, Gena brought him to Petsmart.
Soon after, it was learned that Scotty was nearly blind and had arthritis in his right rear leg. Everyday, Gena and the volunteers would take him for walks, which he really enjoyed! He got special food and treats.
People from all over the country read about him on Petfinder and wished they could adopt him.Kathy and her husband from Corona, California, became very interested in Scotty. They had an older special needs cat. Kathy started coming in everyday to visit Scotty and take him for his walks. After a month of visits, Kathy and her husband decided to adopt him and give him a quality life till the end.
After six months of loving care, Scotty had a stroke and had to be put to sleep. We are all saddened by this. Scotty is now blissfully joined with his first owner of twelve years. Kathy, who loved him till the end, will someday be thanked by that owner and get to take him for his walks again.

POEM:
"Wishes"
We wish we could have told you,
We wish somehow to tell you,
We wish we'd once more hear you,
We wish we had you back again,

in words you'd understand,
We wanted you to stay with us.
This wasn't what we'd planned.
How empty we now feel.
A part of us went with you,
A part that time can't heal.
in your softly, rumbling purr,
to hold you on our laps again
and stroke your golden fur.
to fill this empty space.
But one day we'll be together
in a far, far better place.
